What I've been Watching on YouTube - June 2026
Here’s some more YouTube videos I’ve been watching during June! Last month’s post was way too big, sorry about that, but I did watch a lot of videos!
New Player Finds WoW’s Biggest Problem | Kneecap Jake | 46:23
Very funny video of Kneecap Jake helping out his friend experience Classic WoW dungeons.
English Countryside is the Best - Early Morning Walk in Oxfordshire | Kevin The Countryman | 35:57
Love this guy’s videos, love the English countryside.
Can we cross Manchester city centre using its forgotten Victorian tunnels? | GeoWizard | 39:58
Part 2 of GeoWizard’s mission across Manchester without using roads, I haven’t been into Manchester in years, it has some nice areas, but a lot of trampy areas, some of the fly tipping and litter is atrocious, disgusting. This is a cool idea for a mission though, and the end point is very close to my hometown of Sale!
Richmond: London’s Best Place to Live? | Watched Walker | 57:20
Now this is the sort of place I’d go to in London, lovely stuff, look at all those English men and women enjoying a drink of a hot evening, wonderful. I’d live here or maybe Hampstead if I had to live in London.
Every Programmer Should Know These 3 Languages (No, NOT Python!) | HuwsTube | 8:18
Only just discovered this guy’s channel, he’s a writer and programmer, in this video he goes over the 3 programming languages you should learn.
The COSY MAGIC OF A TINY ENGLISH COTTAGE | Kirsten & Joerg | 22:47
German couple stay in a cosy cottage in the English countryside of Fulbrook, Oxfordshire.
Once upon a time, there was a city: Old Manchester | Lost British Cities | 54:37
A video about the history of Manchester, don’t think this is AI narrated, although you can never be sure. Actually, I think it is AI.
A Beautiful Weekend in My English Village | Ben | 19:06
Some nice shots in this video, I want to make videos like this one day maybe. And I want to live in the country, but an area with fibre internet.
The Call of England | Episode 1: The Foundations | Thinking Class | John Gillam | 42:09
The first in a six-part documentary series, follows the creator’s journey across East Anglia as he retraces the route taken by H.V. Morton in his 1927 classic, In Search of England.
Week in My Life || birthday haul, finishing my book & making a short film | Ruby Granger | 30:51
In this “week in my life” vlog, Ruby Granger documents her efforts to balance professional projects—including finishing her latest children’s book and producing a short film—during a severe heatwave in the UK.
Yeah, It’s Pretty Cursed. | Action Retro | 24:53
Guy installs ‘Linux for Windows’ on an old Windows 98 PC, I’m pretty sure I used to use Mandrake for a short while. I’d love to have a lab/computer room with some old PCs running old versions of Windows and Linux, that’d be cool.
The Operating System That Should Have Beaten Linux | Bit Byte Talks | 11:29
Interesting (AI) video about the origins of FreeBSD and how it compares to Linux, really want to get into BSD, maybe make a server on it.
Rottweilers, security guards and Victorian rooftops. Is this our maddest episode yet? | GeoWizard | 57:05
The final part of GeoWizard’s mission across Manchester without using roads (much). He finishes the mission very close to my hometown of Sale! I used to go to college on Talbot Road, amazed at how it’s changed, all those new buildings, it wasn’t like that when I was at college. Anyway, love GeoWizard’s videos, Manchester needs a bit of a cleanup, especially all the flytipping in the rivers and canals.
Manchesters Biggest Abandoned Shopping Mall Still has Stores Full of Items | Exploring with Fighters | 1:08:25
This is a sad one, I’ve been to Stretford Mall/Precinct so many times since the 80s, I have a lot of memories of the place, sad to see it in this state. I have no idea what they’re going to do with it, probably turned into expensive flats or something. I might write an article about Stretford Mall, dunno.
I Recreated Every Angel in the Bible | Ear to Hear | 26:37
I get some interesting and odd suggestions in my FYP, this is a well-made video all about biblically-accurate angels, some nice CGI in this, don’t know if it’s AI or not.
1998: Buying Your First Family Computer | The Learning Zone | BBC Archive | 28:57
A family get their first computer. 1998, I would have been building, upgrading and tinkering with all kinds of PCs then, I think I started college that year. I miss seeing computer shops everywhere, every middle class family had a Windows PC in the UK back then, but now it seems only people like me (gamers) have PCs, and expensive ones at that, usually built by hand using selected components or purchased pre-built from websites like Chillblast, CyberPower or Starforge. Nowadays everyone just uses phones or tablets from the same two manufacturers and nobody knows anything about how computers or the internet works. Depressing.
BYKER GROVE (Series 1) Was… A Lot Darker Than I Remember | RoseTintedSpectrum | 38:17
In the words of Alan Partridge: “Sorry, sometimes it’s difficult to understand the Geordie… people”.
What Happened to Fonthill Abbey? | Kxaifer | 17:22
A guy recreates Fonthill Abbey in Minecraft. Love this guy’s videos.
I Deleted Arch Linux.. (Never Going Back) | Zei | 12:23
Guy swaps Arch Linux for NixOS after the recent AUR ‘hack’ debacle. Reading the comments will make you hate every Linux user.
Grim Dawn - Late Review | Really Late Reviews | 1:58:22
Really good (and long!) review of Grim Dawn. I am looking forward to playing Fangs of Asterkarn on the 23rd of July!
I bought aircon for under £200. Does it actually work? | Gosforth Handyman | 17:56
We’ve had really hot weather recently, apparently people have been buying a lot of these Screwfix AC units, could do with one of these.
The Hidden History of Manchester Victoria Railway Station | Martin Zero | 33:55
A video about the history of Victoria Station in Manchester. Very interesting if you’re from Manchester!
The Reichstag Red Flag - How the Soviets Faked An Iconic WW2 Image | Mark Felton Productions | 13:09
Video about that very famous photo from Berlin at the end of the war.
Can You Reach 60 By ONLY Killing Undead – Part 7 | MMONerds | 14:02
This guy continues to level to 60 by only killing undead in World of Warcraft.
5 trick arrows that really work! | blumineck | 37:56
Been enjoying this guy’s shorts and videos about bows and arrows. He’s a poledancer, weirdly, so it’s a little odd seeing him incorporate that in a lot of his videos, apart from that, very entertaining and knowledgeable guy.
And yeah, that’s what I’ve been watching over June, it feels like I’ve not watched as much YouTube this month, mainly due to playing more Grim Dawn lately (I’m really excited for the new expansion!). I’ve also noticed a big increase in videos with AI generated thumbnails, I don’t know where people are getting these done but it’s so obvious (I’m not against AI, but it is so easy to notice an AI thumbnail!). I may have a go at using AI thumbnails in some of my videos, maybe use the A/B test facility in YouTube Studio, see if I can get any decent results. Speaking of which, I am in the middle of planning my new ‘third’ (actually fourth!) channel which will be about Linux, Coding, computers, software and unboxings, I’ll let you know when I launch it.
