My brand new i9, RTX 4090 64GB PC!
Hi guys, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Well, I’ve been busy playing with my brand new custom-built PC by CyberPowerUK! My old PC which I got second hand was on its last legs, it had run out of disk space, the RGB lighting kept blinking on and off and it was slow. Also, I kept getting nag screens from Microsoft telling me support for Windows 10 will end next year and the old PC couldn’t run Windows 11 anyway! New PC it is! BTW: This is my first new desktop PC since 1998/99, all PCs I have had since then were either second-hand or cobbled together with the cheapest parts!
My new PC specs:
- CPU - Intel i9 14900 24-Core
- GPU - MSI GeForce RTX 4090 24GB
- RAM - 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5/6400mhz Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB
- Samsung Pro 4TB M.2 MVMe SSD (System C: drive)
- Samsung EVO 4TB 2.5” SSD (D: drive for games, OBS captures, video renders)
- 10TB Seagate Ironwolf SATA-III 7200RPM HDD (Drive for backups and low-priority files)
- PSU - Corsair 1500W (I wanted a 1600W, but they were out of stock)
- OS - Windows 11 Pro
I also chose a case with a glass screen that the guys at Cyberpower can engrave, so I whipped up a simple image in GIMP and sent it via Email to be checked, I think it looks rather nice, my name in ‘LifeCraft’ font with the glorious Alliance lion mascot logo.
My new PC also has a Corsair AIO CPU cooler which functions as a small monitor, I can use the iCUE software to put anything I want on the AIO screen, I currently have Holly from Red Dwarf, but here’s a video with the guy from South Park in the ‘Make Love, Not Warcraft’ episode! The memory modules have RGB lighting and can also be configured through iCUE.
It was pretty stressful transferring all my data to the new PC, I drew up a list of everything I needed to backup - old screenshots, config files, text files, passwords, photos, videos, music, sound effects, etc.
I also bought the full version of DaVinci Resolve, which means it can now utilise my RTX 4090 when rendering videos!
Speaking of rendering videos, my new PC is really fast, my old PC took nearly 4 hours to render a 4K video, my new PC does it in less than 25 minutes! It renders a 1080p video in 5 minutes!
I am planning on getting some modern games such as Starfield, Cyberpunk and No Man’s Sky to test my PC when the Christmas sale comes around. For now I am very happy playing World of Warcraft, Grim Dawn, Minecraft & Diablo III.
