Random thoughts - October 30th 2018

Just a quick update, I’m moving house in the very near future, everything’s very stressful and uncertain at the moment, but I’m just hoping everything will be OK and for it all to be over as quickly as possible. I’m hoping to still be able to live in or around Sale or Sale Moor.

I have finally completed my playthrough of Fallout New Vegas, I abandoned the game for two years, but recently jumped right back into it and has quickly become one of my main games of the past couple of weeks. I somehow unknowingly sided with ‘Yes Man’, meaning I had to replay through the game a second time from the moment you meet Benny, this time I sided with the NCR as planned. Apart from New Vegas I have been levelling a Barbarian in Diablo 3 for season 15. In only 2 or so nights I managed to level to paragon level 200, smashing my previous Greater Rift records on my Crusader. Just like previous seasons, Diablo 3 has been immense fun for a very short while, but then inevitably becomes repetitive and tedious very, very quickly.

Talking of tedious, I haven’t touched World of Warcraft in weeks, Battle for Azeroth and WoW in general just doesn’t appeal to me for the time being. Annoyingly, I managed to quit at the exact same time every year, just before the Hallow’s End holiday, meaning no attempts for the Headless Horseman mount again this year. Don’t get me wrong, as soon as WoW Classic drops I will be straight back to Azeroth!

I’ve been closely following news and videos on Fallout 76 (mostly from the excellent Oxhorn and Jon from ‘Many a True Nerd’), Bethesda’s latest addition to the post-apocalyptic Fallout franchise, of which I’ve fallen absolutely in love with ever since playing my first Fallout game, New Vegas. Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that Fallout 76 is NOT Fallout 5, it is not going to be a single player RPG, a point a lot of Fallout fans still seem to have trouble accepting. In my honest opinion, Fallout 76 is a nice looking game with opportunity for exciting PVP survival and lots of raging, however I just can’t see much scope for long-term replayability or even any kind of end-game. And yes, Fallout 76 looks and feels a lot like Fallout 4. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

In other news, EasyEDA.com has added a 3D model viewer to its PCB editor and it looks fantastic! I’m very motivated to write an EasyEDA tutorial for my website, as well as starting a new electronics PCB project, not sure what, though.
